This is the outside of the skin of the animal
with the grain and the natural fibres conserved.
It offers better quality resistance to wear and
weather. Its final aspect, whether gloss or matt,
oilskin or nubuck texture, depends on finishing
operations in the tannery. This is the leather that comes from the
flesh part of a skin which is split in terms of
its thickness. This skin is not as noble and does
not have the same resistance and protective qualities
as "full grain" leather.
Treat it with classic polish of the same colour
as the leather.
If the toe has been scuffed, colour it again with
shoe dye. Should be brushed with a hard brush.
Clean it with soapy water if it is very dirty and
let it dry in the open air.
Then spray it with a spray the same colour as the
leather. Brush the leather, clean
it with soapy water if necessary and let it dry
in the open air.
Apply a waterproofing spray to keep the suede effect
or waterproof colouring polish for a smoother effect.
